CODE OF CONDUCT
The Little Theatre of Virginia Beach is committed to insuring the highest ethical standards for all volunteers. Our aim is to provide an atmosphere where everyone is treated with dignity, integrity and respect. At LTVB everyone has the right to be physically and emotionally safe.
All volunteers are expected to value each other regardless of their ability, gender, cultural background or religion, age, sexual orientation, race, national origin, or of their physical or psychological disabilities.
As a community theater, any harassment, sexual or otherwise threatens the safety of our environment and can diminish our standing in the theatrical community. We are committed to providing an atmosphere that is free of unlawful discrimination or harassment based on any protected characteristic.
Harassment may include, but is not limited to, invading another person’s personal space such as inappropriate touching; sending or displaying sexually explicit objects or messages; commenting on someone’s looks, dress, sexuality or gender in a derogatory manner; making comments, jokes or gestures that humiliate or might offend someone; engaging in bullying and aggressive or frightening behavior, making some benefits contingent on sexual contact, or otherwise engaging in behavior based on any protected characteristic that interferes with enjoyment of the volunteer relationship.
If anyone feels they have been unfairly treated, he or she can speak to any Board member. Any such complaint will be handled as confidentially as possible under the circumstances.
The House Manager or Box Office Manager is the point of contact for any volunteer or patron during a show. The Director, Stage Manager or Producer is the responsible individual during production and rehearsals. When a production includes intimate contact, actors are expected to abide by the guidance of the Director and/or Intimacy Coordinator.
Should a situation arise that can’t be handled by these volunteers, everyone is entitled to bring his or her grievance to any Board member or an e-mail can be sent to [email protected].
LTVB prohibits any form of retaliation against anyone who brings a complaint under this policy. Any perceived retaliation should be reported using the same procedures.
LTVB reserves the right to remove or otherwise take action against those found to have engaged in conduct prohibited by this policy, or which otherwise is deemed inappropriate by LTVB.
